Project Summary
A concept prop inspired by the sci-fi film District 9 that reflects the film's themes and style. Prometheus is an immersive, alien bonfire that brings alien families together in an annual celebration in the hopes they one day make contact with their people and return home.

the problem.
After landing on Earth 30 years ago, the aliens or “prawns” are relocated to the camp of District 9 as racial tensions rise. As more years pass by, the displaced aliens have begun to forget their roots and beloved home.
To fit in with the film's themes of segregation and discrimination, I set to design a solution for a similarly adjacent problem among growing minorities: the loss of culture.

Once activated, the "petals" of the device open up to let more heat pass through. When tuned to the right frequency, the device sends out a continuous signal out into space.
